The Capital Country Music Association is a community based group of folk who not only love country music but enjoy the nurturing and promotion of particularly young talent by supporting them with performance workshops and monthly showcases with many special opportunities to perform at shows promoting country music and supporting the community. The CCMA is a non-profit organisation.

2009 National Talent Quest

R E S U L T S

Nathan Lamont from Wagga Wagga (NSW) was named Overall Winner of the 2009 Capital Country Music Association (CCMA) National Talent Quest in Tamworth this afternoon (Saturday, January 24,2009).

Nathan also won the Camerata Scholarship prize while Lance Coassin took out the Norfolk Island Prize (entry into the 2009 Trans Tasman Entertainer of the Year competition).

A packed audience in the historic Tamworth Town Hall witnessed the CCMA's 2009 Jamboree or winner's concert today with special guests including Greg Champion and The McClymonts.

In talent quest results, Jordy McMillan was named winner of Best Young Talent Vocal 13 years and under (with Katelyn O'Donoghue second, Andre Drysdale third and Margie-May Hockey taking out the Barry Thornton Memorial encouragement Award).

Nathan Lamont won Best Young Talent Vocal 14 to 17 years (with Jacynta-Lee Glasby second, Mitchell Smith second and Glennifer Altman winner of the Barry Thornton Memorial encouragement Award).

Katelyn O'Donoghue won Junior Gospel 13 years and under (Romany Elmas second, Andre Drysdale third) while Paige Jeffrey won the Junior Gospel 14 to 17 years (Bree De Rome second, Michell Smith third).

Ben Hazell took out Best Senior Vocal 18 years and over (Michael Pye second, Kristy James third. Kristy also won the Shirley Thoms Award for Best Female Vocalist, Ben Hazell the Buddy Williams Award for Best Male Vocalist.

Lance Coassin won the Best Country Gospel section (Ben Hazell second, Nichole Bone third) while Jared Scott & Jessie Fairweather won the Sunset Serenaders Award for Best Country Duet (The Thompson Sisters second, Jordy & Lucy third).

Christie Lamb took out first and second place in the Open Songwriting section (Paul Buckbery third) while Paige Jeffrey won the Bush Ballad Award.
